"Clover"
Black Lake Red Clover [CAN 3880]
Our herd matriarch still looked beautiful at 15 years old (age in photo.) She is a dehorned 2010 progeny from Ritchey Meadows Red Baron out of Shanidar Excella (yes, the famed Shanidar herd.) "Clover" makes the most of her excellent milk volume by producing beefy and fast developing calves. Superior mothering instincts and formerly served as a nurse cow. Gentle but shy. Her tendency to deliver heifers gave us a head start on a line of premium genetics. After a really rough winter being at death's door and then open in 2026, we decided to retire her from breeding. Keeping a toothless cow nourished is now our latest challenge.
"Pumpkin"
Seven Sparks Jacquelin [CAN 5294]
Our first hetero-polled and red heifer came in 2021 out of Clover from Lachlan Conrad. "Pumpkin" inherits the beauty of her mother with a little bit beefier frame like her sire. Showing excellent mothering instincts, we are expecting lots of premium stock out of this young lady.
"KD"
Seven Sparks Kelladorelle [CAN 5674]
Another hetero-polled and red heifer was born in 2022 out of Clover from Lachlan Conrad in a spring blizzard. "KD" is a bit darker shade than her full sister Pumpkin but every bit as charming. It's hard to fathom a more perfect shape of a Dexter female than KD. An ultimate easy keeper that we couldn't malnourish if we tried. She also keeps a full udder for producing big calves, or milk products for the table. Her 2026 bull calf, Pacha, is expected to be winner as well.
"Kleo"
Seven Sparks Kleopatra [CAN 5419]
A polled 2022 second calf, first heifer, out of Seven Sparks Reenie inherits features of her sire Lachlan Conrad. This compact girl also inherits the long line of milk volume on her mother's side. Carrying red, she keeps us guessing with interesting colour combinations when paired with a red bull.
"Marla"
Seven Sparks Marla [CAN 5675]
A thick hetero-polled red heifer from 2024, the second offspring out of Seven Sparks Jacquelin from Grey Abbey Felix, was first bred to Lachlan Leopold. Her first calf, a heifer named Paprika, came on time and unassisted in April, 2026.
"Nectarine"
Seven Sparks Nectarine [CAN 5654]
Our second heifer from Lachlan Leopold came out of Seven Sparks Lilly in 2025. It was a difficult decision to keep this lone female and move on from Leopold before his third breeding season. She was exposed to her half sibling Nestor (on purpose) for an early 2027 delivery in our first ever experiment with line breeding.
